The little stories

A little handmade treasure

Bonnie on a whiskey bottle

Little Bonnie painted on the side of an old glass whiskey bottle

I had an old whiskey bottle and decided to paint little Bonnie on it using glass paints. I baked it in the oven, and it worked really well!

A little experiment that turned an old bottle into something special.

A welcome

Welcome to my little world of big stories

Hello, I’m Susan, the artist behind SuMmice. I paint original oil paintings filled with tiny mice and the animals, objects and adventures they meet along the way.

Each SuMmiceterpiece starts with a story. It might be a small moment of friendship, a mischievous escape or a funny idea that makes me smile. I love bringing those moments to life with expressive characters, little details and dramatic light.

This blog is where I’ll share new paintings, the stories behind them and a few glimpses of life in the studio. I’m glad you’re here.

Thank you for stepping into their world. — Susan x

The artist behind the mice

Painted with a little mischief.

I’m Susan, the painter behind SuMmice. I love building a story from small details: the tilt of a head, a bright eye, a patch of warm light against the dark.

My mice and their animal friends have become familiar characters to me. Each painting is a new little adventure for them — and I hope it brings a smile to you, too.
